Hot Wheels The Real Ghostbusters Ecto-1

hotwheelsrgbsecto1

Previously Mattel’s die cast brand Hot Wheels has produced and sold (GB Inc. Blog Post, December 12, 2014) ECTO-1s in various sizes. Less then a year later on the cusp of The Real Ghostbusters 30th anniversary Mattel finally made an Ecto-1, “as seen in the hit series The Real Ghostbusters.”

If you want your RGBs Hot Wheels to have more of a “on duty” feel, their’s also a glow in the dark version. Which was a Mexican comic con exclusive. They’re marked up on a popular auction site upwards of $80 USD. The regular version, hopefully to be found at retailers on and off-line should cost considerably less. And what about that sweet card?Read More »

Ghostbusters Funko Pop! Movies Roasted Stay-Puft

popstaypuftroastedmain

One of the last Ghostbusters updates that could have been part of my personal blog site, iRich should have been Funko Pop! Movies Stay-Puft variant. I was probably reorganizing the multiple sites or it was around a major holiday. Then their was that Japanese Ghostbusters month (GB Inc. Search Results) back in January.

Before I move on to new Ghostbusters collectibles write ups I finally wanted to finish with Ghostbusters Funko Pop! Movies vinyl figures. If you’d like to read any of my previous reviews/blog posts, they’re listed in iRich (under I Feel So Funko) and more directly in Funko.Read More »

Lego Dimensions And Lego Dimensions Ghostbusters Packs

legodimensionslogo

Whether you’re a ghosthead or not, you’re probably aware by now that a LEGO video game is coming out with licensed characters from Warner Brothers, Universal, Sony Pictures, and additional studios. Lego Dimensions was announced back in April 2015. Two days before my birthday for the excuse.

While I wasn’t disinterested in a multi-character arc Lego game, it wasn’t exactly peaking my interest. Also, ghostheads didn’t know whether Ghostbusters would be apart of it. Ghostbusters Legos were like the little brother of Lego video game DC super heroes and Lego video game lords. Coincidentally Lego video game Marty and Doc could be considered the middle child. Their’s also another doctor in the game. Whomever that may be. 😀

With an announcement months later Ghostbusters will be just as much a part of Lego Dimensions as the rest of someone’s favorite characters “everything is awesome.”Read More »

Trendmasters ECTO-1

egbsketch02

As I previously wrote about (Ecto-Containment Blog Post) I wasn’t a fan of Extreme Ghostbusters. Which even in recent years around the only season of the animated series seemed strange (in my neighborhood or yours) that I wouldn’t be a fan of something Ghostbusters. It couldn’t mean I wouldn’t have an interest in its toy line eventually. Trendmasters, a company who once shelled out the big bucks for Godzilla ponied up to bring us new Ghostbusters toys.

During a probably mundane trip to our nearest Big K-Mart in Fall 2000 I went downstairs and was checking out the toy section. Almost like finding buried treasure, either all or most of Trendmasters Extreme Ghostbusters toys were still available. I had spent a good part of 1999 and 2000 saving for a Proton Pack replica. I was also starting to buy Ghostbusters collectibles on a popular auction site. I didn’t buy a single Extreme Ghostbusters toy from them. In a way it worked out as a ghosthead I knew was interested for his collection.Read More »

Custom Ghostbusters Lego Fire House Featuring Containment Room

bobewanlegogbfirehouse

Not sure how I missed this, in August 2014 (whoops) ghosthead bobewan posted pictures of his custom Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse. Its based on instructions found on the interwebs. Building a Ghostbusters Firehouse from LEGOs in itself is pretty great. When its a gift for his son at Christmas its brought to another level.

From bobewan:

Hello All, wanted to share pics of the LEGO MOCs I made my son last christmas. I found instructions for the Firestation online but tweaked it so it would be longer and have more room for interior play. these aren’t the best pics. I need to take better ones. let me know what you think.

New LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse

mightymausgbfirehouse

Back in March with the then upcoming 30th Anniversary LEGO Ecto-1 on its way to retailers in June, Sergio, a ghosthead and custom LEGO builder created a LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. (Ecto-Containment blog post) As the project is on LEGO Ideas the goal was for 10,000 ghostheads and/or LEGO fans to support the project. If it reaches 10,000 supporters, LEGO will review the project. Sergio’s Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ (LEGO Ideas) has met this requirement.

The downside of Sergio’s Ghostbusters firehouse is it seems ‘complex.’ With approximately 3,000 pieces LEGO might have to scale it back in someway. Which is why in part I’m more optimistic LEGO will give more consideration to LEGO ECTO-1 designer Brent Waller’s LEGO Stay-Puft. (LEGO Ideas)

Their may be a complexity solution. Sounds right. Ghosthead and custom LEGO builder ‘Mighty Maus’ already created a Ghostbusters Firehouse that uses less bricks and therefore would be less expensive. That’s economics!Read More »

30th Anniversary: Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1

popridesecto1frontbox

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

Originally I didn’t know how I felt about a Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1. I hadn’t owned other Pop! Rides. If it wasn’t for Funko Pop! Movies Winston I didn’t know if I would add this to my Ghostbusters collectibles. As I was building my Funko Pop! Movies Ghostbusters collection and waiting to own a Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1 I knew I’d get one. I didn’t know when. As I had waited nearly all year anyway it became a Christmas present.🙂

30th Anniversary: Funko Pop! Movies Winston Zeddemore

popridesecto1

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

Early on when Funko was beginning to show (GBI) their Pop! Movies Ghostbusters figures, their wasn’t a pic to be found of Winston Zeddemore. Before Funko could receive an on-line petition ghostheads were assured Winston was to come with an Ecto-1 Pop Ride. While Pop! Movies Winston deserves a company car, fans really should have been able to buy a Pop! Movies Winston Zeddemore from the start. In the later half of Ghostbusters, he does drive ECTO-1 (at least once) and he’d often drive ECTO-1 during The Real Ghostbusters. He wasn’t the only Ghostbuster to do so.

Lego Late Holiday 2014 Catalog Features Lego ECTO-1

mattyspbirdseyelegoecto1close

When I bought my LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 in June, it was from LEGO’s on-line shop. When I received my order (Rich Collectibles) it included a catalog. I didn’t have any newer catalogs as I haven’t bought any LEGO sets since.Read More »

The Real Ghostbusters ECTO-1 Production Art

asketchpadpencil

While perusing the ‘ol popular auction site that rhymes with day I came across 4 pieces of ECTO-1 production art used in different episodes during The Real Ghostbusters run. The seller or sellers had a “stack” of The Real Ghostbusters cells listed. A bit oddly enough I don’t own any production art or RGB (its cool to abbreviate) cells. As next year is the 30th Anniversary of The Real Ghostbusters I’d like to collect some of that.

If I didn’t have to be responsible I might have or would try to buy or bid on some of the ECTO-1 production art. That doesn’t mean I couldn’t share the not always seen art with ghostheads and plug the seller(s) auctions. Hopefully the favor will be returned by someone when I’m selling again.

I’ve cropped the art some because of the seller’s background and cleaned up the art to make it more newer. The actual art has aged like paper does.

rgbectoarthoodup

I’m pretty sure “The Real Ghostbusters II” refers to when The Real Ghostbusters became Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters. The art is from third season episode, Baby Spookums.

rgbectoartdamage

Damage ECTO-1 from season 4’s The Brookyln Triangle. Notice the production logo is Ghostbusters, not The Real Ghostbusters and definitely not The Real Ghostbusters II.

rgbectoartraps

I still can remember when I first saw Ghost Traps coming out from the sides of ECTO-1. Its clever and makes sense. Although Ecto-Containment’s ECTO-1 features page is real light on content I always liked that as The Real Ghostbusters is a cartoon, ECTO-1 could have more tech depending on the episode plot. Which is also cool as Dan Aykroyd originally wanted ECTO-1 to have “mysterious” supernatural abilities.

This more detailed ECTO-1 was featured in the season 3 episode Halloween II 1/2.

rgbectoarthover

I don’t remember today, ECTO-1 being able to jump with its super duper suspension and jet pads was either really cool or over the top. Similar to when Winston once installed a life raft (Sticky Business) so ECTO-1 could float on water just in case.

This ECTO-1 production art was drawn for the season 3 episode Big Trouble With Little Slimer.

Rich Reviews: 30th Anniversary Lego Ghostbusters ECTO-1

legogbstitle

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

Yesterday I started working on my 30th Anniversary Lego Ghostbusters set. I documented the build for iRichard Roy and my related Ghostbusters sites.

LEGO decided that ultimately to build 4 Ghostbusters, their proton packs, a trap, and of course their Ectomobile 508 pieces are needed. I don’t build Lego sets often, none that can be pricey, or complex. Building Lego Ecto was going to be a challenge. It’s Ghostbusters, it’s the 30th Anniversary, (my 6 year old self would have wanted to build this from Duplo) and the first and only official Ghostbusters Legos.
