The Real Ghostbusters Vintage Style Shelf Talkers

customrgbsheltalkers

Last month thanks to JBlake and originally Kenner I was able to share photos from The Real Ghostbusters Ghost Center. I didn’t think I’d be talking about anything ‘Ghost Center’ related within a month.

During the usual eBay searches I came across brand new RGBs Shelf Talkers! :ORead More »

The Real Ghostbusters Stay-Puft Party

rgbstaypuftplateinvite

Last month around this time (almost to the day) after posting about Party Time RGBs plates I came across another The Real Ghostbusters party plate. This plate (with party invitation!) was produced by C.A. Reed. It features The Real Ghostbusters in an action pose, seems like artwork that was used on other products. What are they so afraid of?Read More »

Party Time The Real Ghostbusters Plates

rgbspartytimeplates

I was certainly the right age for both Ghostbusters Snack Pack (GB Inc. Blog Post) items and The Real Ghostbusters paper goods. Unless they weren’t sold at stores my parents would have shopped at or not available in mass quantities; I never had a Ghostbusters party using officially licensed paper goods. The only Ghostbusters food related paper items I can remember using were The Real Ghostbusters Hi-C lunch bags.

When I’m browsing that certain popular auction site and come across these types of items, it makes me feel at the least happy.Read More »

Custom Ghostbusters Lego Fire House Featuring Containment Room

bobewanlegogbfirehouse

Not sure how I missed this, in August 2014 (whoops) ghosthead bobewan posted pictures of his custom Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse. Its based on instructions found on the interwebs. Building a Ghostbusters Firehouse from LEGOs in itself is pretty great. When its a gift for his son at Christmas its brought to another level.

From bobewan:

Hello All, wanted to share pics of the LEGO MOCs I made my son last christmas. I found instructions for the Firestation online but tweaked it so it would be longer and have more room for interior play. these aren’t the best pics. I need to take better ones. let me know what you think.

New LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse

mightymausgbfirehouse

Back in March with the then upcoming 30th Anniversary LEGO Ecto-1 on its way to retailers in June, Sergio, a ghosthead and custom LEGO builder created a LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. (Ecto-Containment blog post) As the project is on LEGO Ideas the goal was for 10,000 ghostheads and/or LEGO fans to support the project. If it reaches 10,000 supporters, LEGO will review the project. Sergio’s Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ (LEGO Ideas) has met this requirement.

The downside of Sergio’s Ghostbusters firehouse is it seems ‘complex.’ With approximately 3,000 pieces LEGO might have to scale it back in someway. Which is why in part I’m more optimistic LEGO will give more consideration to LEGO ECTO-1 designer Brent Waller’s LEGO Stay-Puft. (LEGO Ideas)

Their may be a complexity solution. Sounds right. Ghosthead and custom LEGO builder ‘Mighty Maus’ already created a Ghostbusters Firehouse that uses less bricks and therefore would be less expensive. That’s economics!Read More »

If The Real Ghostbusters Had Been Anime

rgbsanime

Did you ever wonder what The Real Ghostbusters would have been like if the series had been made for Japan (instead of originally the US) and done in Japan’s known anime style? We didn’t either, the talented Shamoozal had.

Not only are the Ghostbusters real, they’re from Tokyo.

What do you think? Would you have watched an anime Ghostbusters in the 1980s? I probably would have even when I wouldn’t have understood it. Either way visually The Real Ghostbusters was basically made in Asia anyway.

Ecto-Containment In The New Year

ectocjan5

If you’ve been visiting Ecto-Containment (then Ectocontainment) since 2011 you’ve seen the growth of the site technological wise and through its up and down periods. Which were also a reflection of what I was personally going through. As 2014 was nearing the end, (prior to the holidays) I was sorta waiting with Ecto-Containment before working on site content as The Real Ghostbusters (and Ghostbusters news) had slowed down from what it was.

For Ecto-Containment the renewal of the domain was coming up in December. I had briefly considered not renewing it so I could eventually merge Ecto-Containment with Ghostbusters Inc. What if I changed my mind, what if I never do that? I would have run the risk of losing the branding for this site.Read More »

30th Anniversary: SDCC 2014 Limited Edition Funko Pop! Movies Ghostbusters

sdccmarshmallowpops1

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

On June 24, 2014 Funko revealed (GBI) the upcoming SDCC Pop! Movies Ghostbusters exclusives. Immediately I knew I wanted one above all.

A Funko Pop! Movies Ghostbusters 4 pack? With the guys covered in marshmallow? Yes please.😀 As I wasn’t going to SDCC, getting this at face value (not its limited edition, its hot right now value) wasn’t going to be easy. As is usually the case I saw these on eBay well near and over $100 USD.

I had been looking for what was a previous exclusive variant of Funko’s Pop! Movie Stay-Puft, found at then US retailer Hot Topic. They too were going for varying prices from on-line retailers to eBay sellers. During a search I came across Fugitive Toys. I hadn’t previously heard of them. I hadn’t really collected vinyl figures and since that’s their toy business, made sense.

30th Anniversary: Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1

Originally I didn’t know how I felt about a Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1. I hadn’t owned other Pop! Rides. If it wasn’t for Funko Pop! Movies Winston I didn’t know if I would add this to my Ghostbusters collectibles. As I was building my Funko Pop! Movies Ghostbusters collection and waiting to own a Funko Pop! Rides ECTO-1 I knew I’d get one. I didn’t know when. As I had waited nearly all year anyway it became a Christmas present.🙂

30th Anniversary: Funko Pop! Movies Winston Zeddemore

popridesecto1

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

Early on when Funko was beginning to show (GBI) their Pop! Movies Ghostbusters figures, their wasn’t a pic to be found of Winston Zeddemore. Before Funko could receive an on-line petition ghostheads were assured Winston was to come with an Ecto-1 Pop Ride. While Pop! Movies Winston deserves a company car, fans really should have been able to buy a Pop! Movies Winston Zeddemore from the start. In the later half of Ghostbusters, he does drive ECTO-1 (at least once) and he’d often drive ECTO-1 during The Real Ghostbusters. He wasn’t the only Ghostbuster to do so.
