PPW Toys Mr. Potato Ghostbusters

staypuftpotato

Back at February’s New York Toy Fair Ghostbusters licensee PPW Toys had their upcoming Ghostbusters Mr. Potato Heads and nesting dolls on display. (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) Not that surprising I wasn’t familiar enough with PPW Toys. Checking out their site gave me a better idea of their partnerships and pricing.

Today PPW Toys has given us a better look at their Ghostbusters products. Let’s take a closer look!

Funko Ghostbusters MyMojis

funkocompgbsmymoji

At New York Toy Fair from this past February Funko introduced Ghostbusters MyMojis. (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) That was my introduction to either MyMojis or Funko’s version of it.

What exactly is an MyMoji?

From Funko’s MyMoji page:

MyMojis combine beloved characters with the utility of emojis and the fun of collecting!

Each blind-bag vinyl figure depicts a different emotion through the faces of characters from an assortment of popular titles.

They retail for $3.99, there are 24 blind bags per display, and each figure comes with a code to download a free digital MyMoji for your phone!

Now that we received that knowledge Funko gave us a bigger and complete look at their Ghostbusters MyMojis.

I’m not sure if I really want to collect blind bag emoticon like vinyl figures. I’ll probably give it a try at some point. Surprisingly before this product their weren’t any Ghostbusters emojis. I guess AT&DirecTV didn’t want to make even more money. Because all ghostheads had, still have are a ghost and a “no” symbol.

What do you think of MyMojis? Will you be buying them? Whether its Ghostbusters, TMNT, or another “popular title?”

The Real Ghostbusters Returning to DVD

rgbswatchinggbs2

Today, Sony Pictures announced Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be released in ultra 4K high definition (GBI Blog Post, April 4, 2016) blu rays. With Ghostbusters (2016) about three months away, that wasn’t much of a surprise. Although I neither own a 4K TV or player, I’m glad they didn’t leave Ghostbusters II out.

The *real announcement from today’s press release (glad I know people) pertains to The Real Ghostbusters. Its The Real Ghostbusters 30th anniversary and we’re four months into it. Its good to have some (hopefully this won’t just be it) official new merchandise.

Which begins with new The Real Ghostbusters DVDs. According to the press release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing “over 5o episodes of the iconic 1980s animated series.” This won’t be a re-release of the complete series. How they’ll choose episodes and which ones are to be determined from our point of view.

Either way The Real Ghostbusters has had a complete series release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Time Life Video. Episodes can also be streamed through Sony’s Crackle website. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 21, 2015)

Press Release:

Also, as part of the excitement surrounding the arrival of the new film, SPHE will release over 50 episodes of the iconic 1980s animated series, The Real Ghostbusters, on DVD July 7 and on Digital, from Ivan Reitman, DiC and Sony Pictures Television.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Ghostbusters Fan Club Kit Pre-Order

gbsfanclubkitpack.png

At last month’s Toy Fair New York aka NYTF, one of the collectible items Cryptozoic Entertainment had on display (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) is the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS Fan Club Collector Kit.

As I was too young for the official fan club (GBI Blog Post, June 8, 2014) and somehow missed out on Ghostbusters cereal’s “Be a Ghostbuster” cereal premium (GBI Blog Post, October 20, 2014) thirty two years later finally, I get to officially be part of a Ghostbusters fan club! 😀

Even though I wanted to with GBI, I never quite had the financial means to keep mass quantities of fan club materials to give to “franchises.”Read More »

Former Nerd Block Ghostbusters Bundle

nerdblockpunchgbsbundle

Nerd Block, one of a kajillion box subscription services from time-to-time has Ghostbusters related items included with whatever that particular month’s theme is.

Eventually some, if not all items are no longer exclusive. With the t-shirt don’t hold me to that. I’m not subscribed to any box collectibles. Which is why I’m writing about these roughly 8 months later.

During the first week of March 2016 I saw through one of their internet ads Shirt Punch, (one of those deal sites where items are no longer for sale 24 hrs later) were offering Ghostbusters t-shirts and the former Nerd Block items. As I had been wanting both the t-shirt (you know in my size) and the Ghost Trap, I went full impulse buy.Read More »

Kenner The Real Ghostbusters Original Instructions

firehouseInstructions.jpg

Lee Hall aka hallpaleo recently scanned (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, March 21, 2016) his Ghostbusters Firehouse/Station decal sheet. To follow was an original Kenner The Real Ghostbusters Firehouse instructions.

This morning Lee Hall provided scans of his instructions. For me it was like discovering an ancient scroll lost to time. I’ve cleaned the 6 page instructions up, converted them to a PDF file, and upload them to Ecto-Containment.

We’re now one step closer to completing Kenner’s The Real Ghostbusters instructions.

Japanese Ghostbusters 2016 Theatrical Collectibles

Sony Pictures Entertainment premiered Ghostbusters (2016) trailer, (GBI Blog Post, March 3, 2016) followed by the first official international trailer. (GBI Blog Post, March 10, 2016) Since then additional international trailers have been released. I’ve been adding them to GBI’s blog post about them. Including the much shorter Japanese trailer.

Our associates at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are celebrating Easter…eggs in LEGO’s Lego Dimensions. (US)

Lego Ideas: Ghostbusters Neutrino Wand

mrlegohouselegoideaswand

This is a different type of Lego Ideas Ghostbusters project. A LEGO designer with the handle of MrLegoHouse has seemingly designed the first Lego Ghostbusters prop.

I’m not sure if Lego’s license extends to prop toys. Upon first look this does somewhat resemble Matty Collector’s Neutrino Wand. If Lego could do it, it would be a different market and appeal to ghostheads. Like with what Matty Collector already produced, it would be incomplete without a lot of LEGO bricks to make a complete Lego Proton Pack.

Lego Ideas: Dana’s Ghostbusters Apartment

bobrick999danaptlegoidea.png

With LEGO officially making licensed Ghostbusters sets, (not Stay-Puft, that’s what I heard!) I kinda thought additional products would come from Lego/Sony. Thankfully over the weekend Lego builders and ghostheads proved me wrong.

Over at LEGO Ideas Bobbrick999 has designed Dana Barrett’s 1980s apartment, you know before the Gatekeeper brought property values way down.Read More »

Kenner The Real Ghostbusters Firehouse Decals

firehousedecalsheet.jpg

On Ghostbusters 29th anniversary I added a not so coincidental update to Ecto-Containment. The instructions (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, June 8, 2013) for Kenner‘s Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ/Station.

At the time I couldn’t share its decal sheet as the previous owner had applied them about a year earlier. Then over the weekend because a ghosthead needed a copy of Kenner’s Ghost Nabber instructions, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, May 28, 2013) a conversation began which leads to today.

Lee Hall aka hallpaleo scanned his Ghostbusters Firehouse/Station decal sheet, cleaned it up, and provided it for ghostheads. All I’ve basically done is made his scan a PDF file and added it to Ecto-Containment.

The high res file is somewhat on the large side, smaller then the files I downloaded.

Thanks so much again Lee Hall!
