Ghostbusters Vinyl Figures Coming From Weta Workshop

I have to be honest, the standard that has been around with Vinyl figures peaked for me sometime ago. To the point I had thought their was really only one way to make them. Then Vinyl Sugar, a Funko brand came along with Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 24, 2015) and I probably said something like this is different.

I couldn’t have imagined in 4 years how much the vinyl figure landscape would change. Enter Weta Workshop. A company who does creative development, publishing, weapons, props, creatures, make-up, miniatures, public art, and merchandise for films” for at least the past 2 decades.

They already have figures from Aliens, Lord Of The Rings, and Men In Black to name a few. Coming in 2020 Weta Workshop is set to bring ghostheads three Ghostbusters figures. After the break, full sized photos!

Rich Review: Ghostbusters Candy Bars From Astor Chocolate

gbs35candy

After eating and writing about new Ghostbusters breakfast cereals, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 16, 2019) yesterday it’s time to write and eat about new Ghostbusters candy.

In the past a company or two (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 13, 2015) made Ghostbusters candy, if you lived in the United Kingdom. What about the 327.2 million (as of 2018) US residents? Everyone loves Ghostbusters and candy.

I patiently waited (sure) and during Ghostbusters 35th anniversary Astor Chocolate produced not 1, but 2 Ghostbusters candy bars.

  • Ectoplasmic Residue, Slimer themed.
  • Stay Puft Marshmallow.

Rich Review: Ghostbusters Stay Puft Cereal From Funko

funkostaypuftcerealbox5

In 2019 for Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary Funko made not 1, but 2 Ghostbusters branded cereals. The first, Ghostbusters Slimer Funko’s. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 16, 2019) The second and probably final Funko’s Ghostbusters cereal was in association with The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Corporation. Well, if it really existed.

Rich Review: Ghostbusters Slimer Cereal From Funko

funkoslimercerealbox5

In 1985 Ralston brought us Ghostbusters cereal. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 8, 2014) In 1990 after the Ghostbusters franchise went into a type of slumber, (also personally know to me as “the dark times”) our beloved cereal had disappeared.

Ghostbusters and its fandom would grow, anniversaries would see new merchandise, including things we could eat (GBI Blog Post, February 21, 2016) and drink. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, June 17, 2016) Sure, Twinkies are snack food. It isn’t breakfast. When would ghostheads be able to have not expired and inexpensive Ghostbusters cereal again?

Enter toy (and cereal maker?) company Funko. In 2018 the Pops! company whom had already made plenty of Ghostbusters figures, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, December 28, 2014) began producing Funko’s. Cereals based on licensed properties which probably already had a Pop! figure or 22.

The one Funko’s cereal that was missing, Ghostbusters. During a sorta off Ghostbusters anniversary, ghostheads had to maybe eat strange waffles instead.

What a difference a year makes. In 2019 Ghostbusters turned thirty five and decided it had a lot to do for this year and next year. To start a new day off right, it’s time for Funko’s. Ghostbusters. Slimer. Cereal!

I’ve added a new item (link removed as EGBs Ecto-1 has been sold) to the Ecto-Containment Store. Around 2012 I bought an Extreme Ghostbusters Ecto-1 sealed in box, until 2015.

Now, during Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary, it was for sale.

ø Firing Pop-Up Missile Launcher! ø Blazing Lights & Action Sounds! ø Awesome Action Ghost Trap! ø Fits All “EGB” Action Figures! I’ve owned this Extreme Ghostbusters Ecto-1 in box since around 2012. It was sealed in box until I opened it in 2015 for review on Ecto-Containment. EGB Ecto-1 comes with original packaging and includes accessories. Please see photos and review for more about Extreme Ghostbusters Ecto-1! Vehicle comes from a smoke free and pet free residence.

Ecto-Containment Store Is Live

ectocstorepg

In the first attempt (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, February 13, 2018) at having an on-line store, things didn’t go as well as I would have liked. That came down to not having a real/direct way through Ecto-Containment to process payments.

This year because of recent updates I’m able to sell on site and with PayPal. Today I updated the Store with 6 Kenner The Real Ghostbusters toys.

Separately I’m selling in the Store my Kenner Firehouse Headquarters/Fire Station.

On the updated Matty Collector Figures page in the Store I’ve added thirteen 6″ figures based on Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, and Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

More Matty and other Ghostbusters collectibles to be added. Thank you for checking out the Store. If you have a question or are looking for something, please comment or email me at: spengs @ ecto-containment . com.

Print Isn’t Dead, Just Digitally Preserved

rgbcomicovers

When Ghostbusters was celebrating its 24th anniversary I began to preserve out of print Ghostbusters content, adding it to then Ectocontainment. Trivia: I’m pretty sure it was The Real Ghostbusters Jumbo Coloring Book. (PDF file) I didn’t even have a physical copy of it! In 2011 I did have plenty of physical Real/Ghostbusters out of print materials to preserve. Mainly my legacy with The Real Ghostbusters Magazine(s) and NOW The Real Ghostbusters comics. They were originally hosted at Ectocontainment, later Ecto-Containment. The digital files would evolve thanks to ghostheads Matthew Jordan and Paul Rudoff. From then to present day as I had or was given permission to share “newer” physical content I did and would.

Originally my files were so large I didn’t have enough space to host them all at Ecto-Containment. Even with a team effort and so I could host other files here I made the decision to move all the preservation files from the basement to upstairs. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, April 22, 2015)

All periodicals have been at Ghostbusters Firehouse for the last 4 years to this day. I’ve always wanted to bring it all back to Ecto-Containment. That was my plan. Today on my day off that’s exactly what I did.Read More »

Updated Ghostbusters Official Fan Club Membership Card

gbsoffanclubidblank

On July 3, 1984 as The United States was celebrating independence, Mark Lister and Jim Garvey founded the official Ghostbusters Fan Club. (GBI Blog Post, June 8, 2014)

Related: Ghostbusters Official Fan Club. (Spook Central)

For about the price of a streaming subscription today, ($8.95 USD in 1984) ghostheads received a number of items, including a membership card. A high res version surfaced on February 2, 2018 thanks to Lance Dobersek. I wrote more about the original membership card (GBI Blog Post, April 28, 2018) at Ghostbusters International..

Since Lance Dobersek tweeted his scans I wanted to recreate the ID card as original as possible. The was the idea until I was looking at Pixelmator and was thinking if Mark Lister and Jim Garvey were creating the club today they would have more “tools and talent.” For practically free.

The original card is Ghostbusters history. That’s why I uploaded Lance’s scans and with very little touch up created a blank for ghostheads to fill in their own names.

With my thinking and 2018 in mind I created a version in the spirit of the original. With a lot of text it took time to “get it right.”
