Ghostbusters Selects will arrive at additional retailers, including the on-line variety in January 2016.Read More »

Rich Review: Ghostbusters Vinyl Sugar Idolz

gbvinylidolzbox

Around this years San Diego Comic Con when Funko/Vinyl Sugar‘s Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz were out there in the wild I was checking the usual on-line retail sites so I could buy them. Still to my knowledge no ghosthead who isn’t an employee of Funko knows why their isn’t a Vinyl Idolz Winston. I sorta preferred the SDCC exclusive versions. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 11, 2015) A reasonable price alluded me within the US. Last year I bought something similar with Funko’s SDCC Marshmallow Covered Movie Pops!. (iRich Blog Post, December 28, 2014)

With some of the exclusivity out of reach I ended up buying Vinyl Idolz Peter Venkman first from Barnes & Noble‘s website. Vinyl Idolz Ray Stantz and Vinyl Idolz Egon Spengler came from an eBay seller in NJ. I was able to save some more that way.Read More »

Ghostbusters Dorbz Chase Variants

If you’ve ever read or collected a toy line you know its a foregone conclusion that the company behind that line is going to make a variant of said figures. Matty what’s their name were practically known for doing this with Ghostbusters. In a different way, Funko and their brands have done something similar (though to their credit better) with both their Pops! and Vinyl Idolz.

I wasn’t surprised when I unexpectedly found out Vinyl Sugar will be releasing at least two (that they’ve shared) variant (or chase, (ya know thrill of the hunt) Ghostbusters Dorbz.Read More »

Ghostbusters Funko Pop! Movies Roasted Stay-Puft

popstaypuftroastedmain

One of the last Ghostbusters updates that could have been part of my personal blog site, iRich should have been Funko Pop! Movies Stay-Puft variant. I was probably reorganizing the multiple sites or it was around a major holiday. Then their was that Japanese Ghostbusters month (GB Inc. Search Results) back in January.

Before I move on to new Ghostbusters collectibles write ups I finally wanted to finish with Ghostbusters Funko Pop! Movies vinyl figures. If you’d like to read any of my previous reviews/blog posts, they’re listed in iRich (under I Feel So Funko) and more directly in Funko.Read More »

sdccdstgbselectnewgbselects

Diamond Select Toys who will be releasing its first series of Ghostbusters Selects (GB Inc Blog Post) later this year is at San Diego Con. On display naturally are the Winston and Ray Ghostbusters Selects. Along with Louis as Keymaster ‘Ghostbuster’ Select.

Originally the third figure was up in the air as figures releases can depend on licensee approval. DST’s own Zach Oats thought the third figure could be Dana as Gatekeeper.

New Ghostbusters Selects for series 2 (and beyond) have been produced and are also being shown to SDCC attendees. Thanks to Toy News International for taking and sharing pictures. Let’s check them out!Read More »

Vinyl Idolz SDCC 2015 Exclusives

vinylsugarlogo

Vinyl Sugar, a Funko company (sure that works) revealed during June three upcoming San Diego Comic Con Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz exclusives. A touch of paint + a limited number made + SDCC sticker divided by the square root of being a SDCC exclusive = second and third party mark ups on-line.

As a quick aside I would have written about them sooner if it hadn’t been for personal obligations wondering if we would need multiple mortgages.

Let’s take a look at these exclusive variants.Read More »

Diamond Select Ghostbusters Series 1 Official Announcement

dstgbseries1

I’ve been talking about Diamond Select Toys upcoming 7″ Ghostbusters figures since (GB Inc) New York Toy Fair. With additional information added to Ghostbusters Firehouse.

DST officially made the announcement on April 21 about Series 1 and beyond. We most likely knew Ray and Winston would be part of the first figures, the third figure (and the remaining line up) depended on approval. The third figure, “check on the little guy,” Louis Tully as Vinz Clortho!Read More »

3oth Anniversary: Ghostbusters Funko Pop! Movies Vinyl Figures

firstgbpops.png

Note: Originally appeared at my personal site, iRich.

In March 2014 Funko, a collectible toy company announced their Ghostbusters Pop! Movie Vinyl figures were coming for Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary. Previously I wasn’t too familiar with Funko products. When it came to vinyl figures, I knew more about Mighty Muggs from Hasbro. I found out about them for the first time a couple years ago. When I saw Mighty Muggs at US toy retailer Toys ‘R Us and bought two retailer exclusive licensed Marvel Iron Man 2 figures.

What’s the difference in brands? Mighty Muggs are a bigger scale and seem to have decal graphics for clothing, skin, and hair. Pop! Vinyl Figures generally are 4 inches in size, look more realistic, are known for their circular black eyes, their heads can move, more detailed skin, hair, and clothing. Depending on the figure, will come with its known accessory that isn’t removable.

Both companies did or do share similar licenses that include characters from MarvelDC, and Disneyfor starters. Pops! are meant to be collectible and continue with licenses for classic and more recent television shows. Of course movies too from back in what I like to call the day to present.

When they were announced most of the pop vinyl line would be available in May. The Winston Pop! Movie figure would be available with the Pop! Movie ECTO-1. For most retailers product 109 continued have its release date moved. The item may be available at the end of August. I’ve seen an on-line retailer through Amazon list an October release.

Not surprising I’ve liked these figures almost immediately. They’re the vinyl figures I would have wanted from the beginning and didn’t even know I needed. When they became available closer to the end of April I was getting ready for vacation. Between travel expenses and things like bills I knew I’d have to wait until June. With the LEGO Ecto-1 Ghostbusters set coming out, at the time I felt I’d have an easier time finding the Pop! figures during the summer.

Near the end of July while on a trip to the nearest Barnes & Noble (one of two national chains, the other being Hot Topic that I know of that carries Funko Pop! vinyl figures) they had Dr. Venkman, (104) Dr. Stantz, (105) and Egon. (106) Slimer and a different size Pop! would come from Amazon first week of August.

Pop! Dr. Venkman was unavailable as he was looking for a non existent Dana as Gatekeeper Pop! Pop! Dr. Ray was more then happy to help a ghosthead and collector out.😉
