LEGO Teases, Sorta Announces Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ

Figures, selfishly on a day where I was tired and had a sinus headache LEGO posted on their Facebook page what I’m calling a tease about their upcoming Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. (Set 75827) Previously I posted what I considered speculation, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 19, 2015) was mostly likely an error on the part of Toys R’ Us Canada.

Take this with the grains of color plastic, LEGO news site, The Brick Fan posted details about the upcoming Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse. Something I’ve talked about (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, February 4, 2015) on Ecto-Containment and Ghostbusters Inc. (GB Inc. Search Results)

The source for the set number and details would be credible, (Toys’ R Us Canada) however their isn’t a direct link to any press release or product page from TRU Canada. Also this firehouse would be based on Brent Waller’s design.

Towards the end of August Lego Dimensions gave ghostheads, LEGO fans, and gamers (good combo) a first look at the Lego Dimensions (Ecto-Containment blog post) Ghostbusters Firehouse.

Lego Dimensions And Lego Dimensions Ghostbusters Packs

Whether you’re a ghosthead or not, you’re probably aware by now that a LEGO video game is coming out with licensed characters from Warner Brothers, Universal, Sony Pictures, and additional studios. Lego Dimensions was announced back in April 2015. Two days before my birthday for the excuse.

While I wasn’t disinterested in a multi-character arc Lego game, it wasn’t exactly peaking my interest. Also, ghostheads didn’t know whether Ghostbusters would be apart of it. Ghostbusters Legos were like the little brother of Lego video game DC super heroes and Lego video game lords. Coincidentally Lego video game Marty and Doc could be considered the middle child. Their’s also another doctor in the game. Whomever that may be. 😀

Lego Ideas: Modular Library

Within the last few months I saw in a Lego Ideas email that custom Lego builder JGreeny had created a modular library. As a ghosthead one of the first things that came to mind was here’s a building not only could the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 be displayed with, the Ghostbusters mini figures could enter, also for display or even to be played in.

Supporting the modular library was already going well enough. I was hoping by writing about it too (if i had gotten to it when I first saw it) more ghostheads and LEGO fans could have also supported it. When I checked today, I was glad to see JGreeny had reached the 10,000 supporters the project needed for LEGO to actually consider putting this into production.

The review and subsequent announcement won’t happen until September. In the meantime check out JGreeny’s modular library with its additional interior details.

LEGO Ideas Isn’t Moving Forward With Sergio’s Ghostbusters Firehouse

LEGO has announced the product or products they’ll be moving forward with from LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, not that surprising they didn’t choose Sergio Herencias’ Ghostbusters Firehouse. (GB Inc. Blog Post) If we’re not getting Ghostbusters HQ yet, what will LEGO Idea will they make?

LEGO Ideas #011 WALL-E

Big congratulations to Angus MacLane who created this blocky version of everyone’s favorite hopelessly romantic robot. MacLane is a Pixar animator and director, who actually worked on the WALL-E film. He created the model during the WALL-E production, and submitted it to LEGO Ideas in hopes of it becoming a set. Your hopes and dreams for WALL-E have come true, as the creation will become the next LEGO Ideas product.

Last April we introduced Ecto-Containment readers to Brent Waller’s LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Stay-Puft. Since then Lego Cuusoo became LEGO Ideas, Brent’s Ghostbusters ECTO-1 set became a reality, Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary has come to pass, and Ghostbusters is really getting a new movie, uh we think.

Custom Ghostbusters Lego Fire House Featuring Containment Room

Not sure how I missed this, in August 2014 (whoops) ghosthead bobewan posted pictures of his custom Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse. Its based on instructions found on the interwebs. Building a Ghostbusters Firehouse from LEGOs in itself is pretty great. When its a gift for his son at Christmas its brought to another level.

New LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse

Back in March with the then upcoming 30th Anniversary LEGO Ecto-1 on its way to retailers in June, Sergio, a ghosthead and custom LEGO builder created a LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. (Ecto-Containment blog post) As the project is on LEGO Ideas the goal was for 10,000 ghostheads and/or LEGO fans to support the project. If it reaches 10,000 supporters, LEGO will review the project. Sergio’s Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ (LEGO Ideas) has met this requirement.

The downside of Sergio’s Ghostbusters firehouse is it seems ‘complex.’ With approximately 3,000 pieces LEGO might have to scale it back in someway. Which is why in part I’m more optimistic LEGO will give more consideration to LEGO ECTO-1 designer Brent Waller’s LEGO Stay-Puft. (LEGO Ideas)

Their may be a complexity solution. Sounds right. Ghosthead and custom LEGO builder ‘Mighty Maus’ already created a Ghostbusters Firehouse that uses less bricks and therefore would be less expensive. That’s economics!Read More »
