Ghost Corps Ghostbusters Winter Hat

Ghost Corps, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, December 3, 2015) Sony Pictures Ghostbusters office located in Culver City, CA has been known to send new Ghostbusters merchandise to fans. Sometimes as a giveaway. In recent months they’ve done this with Ghostbusters (2016) character posters, a limited baseball cap, and a Ghostbusters title logo winter hat. Whatever the reason its for ghostheads and additional free advertising. 🙂

Some of my Ghostbusters franchises friends had received those types of gifts. I had commented at least a couple of times (trust me, not annoyingly) about needing to become better friends with Ghost Corps. (Facebook) Since then I still haven’t personally written them.

Today while going through my mail I saw a manilla envelope. I wasn’t expecting anything. I had a feeling it was Ghostbusters related. I didn’t know immediately who sent it as the envelope was upside down after going through the mail slot.

Turns out it was from friend and Ghostbusters NJ member Jody. (GBNJ page) Holding the envelope I thought it might be a t-shirt. The timing would have been a great coincidence as I wrote about Ghostbusters (2016) movie theaters employee t-shirts (Ghostbusters International Blog Post, February 11, 2016) yesterday.Read More »

Weekend Magazine 1984 Ghostbusters Craze

wagatvweekcrazegbs
So not officially licensed.

For some of us in 1984 (if we were born then or old enough) we experienced Ghostbusters by more then seeing it in theaters multiple times. As I’ve talked about I was 6 and couldn’t really be part of the hype (i.e.: marketing experience) in that first year. I and other ghostheads around my age only had clues or bits and pieces about other ghostheads memories.

Until about now. a video surfaced, (actually during Ghostbusters 30th anniversary) which resurfaced showing how residents in Atlanta were and could be part of what news station WAGA called a craze. What they didn’t know.

As part of their weekend magazine segment we have visual (video) evidence of Ghostbusters rising popularity. i.e.: everything busters. Along with the first wave of early merchandise. Experiences in other part of the country and the world varied I’m sure.Read More »

Lego Dimensions Ghostbusters Character Spotlight

legodimegbspotlightpetervenkman.png

Lego Dimensions (US) has a section on their YouTube page known as Character Spotlights. I saw today that Lego Dimensions had a character spotlight (uploaded yesterday) on one Dr. Peter Venkman. Of course it has to be Pete Venkman. 😉 If more Ghostbusters character spotlights are made, I can also post about them.

Lego Dimensions The Doctors Collide

legodimedocscollide.png

One of our contacts behind the marketing of Lego Dimensions (US) sent additional information, (during last weeks snow clean up) and a trailer for when a few LEGO doctors meet up at the same time. Yeah, I know.

For the first time in any LEGO videogame, characters and vehicles from some of the biggest entertainment brands in the universe converge in LEGO® Dimensions™.  In a new short trailer illustrating the game’s crazy, possible mash-ups, Dr. Venkman from Ghostbusters™, Doc Brown from Back to the Future™, and The Doctor from the long running British science fiction television series Doctor Who, unexpectedly come together.

Fans can play through individual levels based on these popular properties in the game’s main story. Players can also explore one distinct, freeplay Adventure World for each of these entertainment properties with any LEGO Dimensions minifigure belonging to that brand.  Each Adventure World provides players access to additional gameplay content and exploration throughout some of the most iconic locations from each brand’s universe.

My Ghostbusters II Memories

erniepetersigdanharoldposing

With the addition of Ghostbusters to Ecto-Containment, really the only piece of the Ghostbusters puzzle (you didn’t tell us their were going to more games) was to write my memories of Ghostbusters II. Which would be different from Ghostbusters. Because of age, The Real Ghostbusters, merchandise, and related experiences around Ghostbusters II premiere.

Origins Of Being A Ghosthead

thegbsecto1pic

When Ecto-Containment was only about The Real Ghostbusters I kept Ghostbusters content to either Ghostbusters International or during the twenty teens iRich, my personal blog/site. That’s where I wrote almost immediately (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, September 1, 2013) about being a ghosthead. A term coined by Norm Gagnon, one of the original fans.

When I expanded Ecto-Containment to be a more general, all purpose Ghostbusters site, a Ghostbusters page was needed. Early in 2016 we return to where it all began.

Japanese Magazine Quanto Issue 269

quantoapril12issue269

Last month Matthew Jordan from Ghostbusters Wiki shared scans he had from a Japanese hobby/toy magazine (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, December 12, 2015) called Quanto.

At the time all we had were photos of scans which weren’t all full pages. Ghosthead and member of NYC Ghostbusters Christopher Beaumont added a cover image from an eBay auction. If that was it, I’d still be happy I found out about Quanto and see what and how they advertised Ghostbusters.

Fortunately for ghostheads copies were available to purchase. Christopher Beaumont was able to get Issue 269 from April 2011. This past week Christopher uploaded his scans to the NYC Ghostbusters Facebook page.Read More »

legodesignersgbfirehouse

Lego Designers Marcos Bessa and Paul (who materialized because LEGO secretly invented a transporter) made a Lego Designer video which talks about and shows off the Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, November 11, 2015)
