More Current Japanese Ghostbusters Merchandise

currentjapanesegbearphonejackhappystaypuft

Months ago I came across a couple of auctions on a popular auction site for  more current Japanese Ghostbusters merchandise. Since I don’t know when these were made and sold (perhaps they still are) and they’re newer then the Japanese Ghostbusters merchandise I’ve written about (GB Inc. Blog Post, January 15, 2015) and found them interesting I thought I’d share them.Read More »

Japanese Magazine Quanto Ghostbusters Advertising

A Japanese toy and hobby magazine called Quanto, (no exact English translation that I’m aware of, if it isn’t Spanish) had a 2011 issue where they had photos of Ghostbusters merchandise from Diamond Select Toys, Factory Entertainment, Hot Wheels, Matty Collector, Rubies, and whomever has a license for Ghostbusters t-shirts in Japan.

Matthew Jordan who oversees Ghostbusters Wiki shared the scans he had. It’s possible I had seen the scans before this week as I had a slight dejá vu feeling about it. With my interests in Japanese culture and international Ghostbusters merchandise I wanted to know more.

Ghosthead and member of NYC Ghostbusters Christopher Beaumont added a cover image from an eBay auction and provided additional information.

In the meantime Matthew shared an article with two videos about the photo shoot for this issue of Quanto.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Ghostbusters Trading Cards

gb2sketchcardjoesimkolr

Earlier this year Cryptozoic Entertainment who recently released Ghostbusters: The Board Game (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 29, 2015) had basically announced Ghostbusters trading cards were on their way (Ghostbusters Inc. Blog Post, February 13, 2015) this year.

Quality Ghostbusters products take time and original release dates sometimes need to be pushed ahead. Fortunately and unfortunately that will be the situation with Cryptozoic’s upcoming Ghostbusters trading cards.Read More »

Yesterday, the first photo (that I saw) of actual Diamond Select Toys Ghostbusters figures was shared by David aka tmnt_hunter209 through his iconosquare account.

These three figures (part of Series 1) are beginning to arrive at Toys ‘R Us (US). They retail for $12.99 USD each. These are the basic figures without the rooftop diorama pieces.

Ghostbusters Selects will arrive at additional retailers, including the on-line variety in January 2016.Read More »

Ghostcorps Headquarters

ghostcorpsoffice

I’ve been working (um probably for far too long) on Ghostbusters content going back to at least 2003. If I had an intern, I’d have that person get me more information and some lunch.

I never had an office where all things Ghostbusters is official, 100% legal, right by the ECTO-1, and located on Sony Pictures lot.

With a renewed interest in the GHOSTBUSTERS™ franchise, Sony and people like Ivan Reitman and oh Ghostbusters creator Dan Aykroyd created Ghostcorps. Some sort of professional place where Ghostbusters can continue expanding into a larger fan universe.

I don’t know if ghostheads are allowed to visit inside Ghostcoprps, as its located on the Sony lot, fans can certainly see the exterior along with ECTO-1 and more recently the Ghostbusters 2016 Ecto-1.

That’s what Jeff Ferguson did about a month ago, sharing a photo. I’m not sure additional photos were taken by Jeff, an album was uploaded and shared by Ghostbustersmania.Read More »

Tobin’s Spirit Guide From Insight Editions Update

On September 8, 2015 I wrote that Amazon added new information, (which I included and will again) about what Insight Editions Tobin’s Spirit Guide (Ghostbusters Inc. Tobin’s Spirit Guide) will be about.

With November coming to an end and turkeys breathing a sigh of relief Insight Editions and Amazon have gave ghostheads a first look as the Tobin’s Spirit Guide (abridged) cover.Read More »

Ghostbusters Dog Tags

cryptozoicgbsdogtagspackage

Sometimes I wish obscure, odd Ghostbusters collectibles was a thing.

I find that fascinating…

This is one of multiple reasons I’m not in marketing. When I think of Ghostbusters, collecting, stuff, and what goes together, I would have never thought of Ghostbusters Dog Tags.

In a way it makes sense. Everyday men and women fight a battle, protecting people so for example they can post blogs fans read. If you’re a ghosthead and are part of a franchise, you’re also protecting people. From imaginary spirits. Or helping a charity. Or going to a con some weekend.Read More »

While We Wait For New Ecto Cooler

Hi-C_Ecto-Cooler_Can_Label_Original

It’s been more than a decade since I last bought Hi-C juice boxes. The only reason I did in 2003 was because Dinosaur Dracula (formerly X-Entertainment) confirmed Ecto Cooler still existed, without the name and Ghostbusters packaging.

I couldn’t tell you today (or even then) if Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen tasted anything like Ecto Cooler. It probably was fun to have a taste of childhood in the present.

With news of Ecto Cooler (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, November 27, 2015) once again trademarked from Coca~Cola and an unknown about whether ghostheads will officially have our citrus flavored drink back that reminded us of slime; what are we suppose to do in the meantime?

Hi-C Ecto Cooler To Return (Maybe)

ectocooler

If you live in a country that celebrates Thanksgiving (because your ancestors mostly needed to leave a continent for their religious beliefs) you may initially have missed an important trademark registry breaking the internet.

Resurrect Ecto Cooler (Facebook) shared that Coca~Cola (who owns Hi-C and also once owned Ghostbusters because they had owned Columbia Pictures) have renewed the Ecto Cooler trademark through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It was actually done back in September.Read More »
