Spirit Halloween New Ghostbusters Costumes

Last year Spirit Halloween took their Ghostbusters license to the next level with new Ghostbusters costumes, prop replicas, and more. (GBI Blog Post, August 30, 2018)

Those items far as I know are still available to buy along with a storage facility full of new items.

Full disclosure I don’t own any of Spirit Halloween’s Ghostbusters items. As you may know I own a couple of Ghostbusters flight suits, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, March 5, 2014) that don’t fit because I lost weight in the last 2 years.

When I’m able to I’ll put together a new for me Ghostbusters costume. This post is more of an overview and my opinion of what Spirit Halloween is offering this year than a review.

The Real Ghostbusters Costumes

spirithallrgbspetercost.pngAlways wanted to turn yourself into a paranormal investigator like everyone in The Real Ghostbusters? Well, this officially licensed Peter Venkman costume will have you ready to show all those ghosts how we do things downtown.

  • Includes:
    • Jumpsuit
    • Wig
    • Glasses
  • Long Sleeves
  • Zipper Closure
  • Length: about 59” shoulder to hem
  • Material: Cotton, synthetic fibers
  • Care: Spot clean
  • Imported

Opinion: Their have been custom made The Real Ghostbusters costumes before. I think it’s cool that finally Spirit Halloween can do something RGBs related. It makes sense to make “hero” costumes. I get why an animated Peter would have a wig. I don’t think it’s necessary. Probably part of the same copy for the next paragraph. “Dr. V” doesn’t need glasses.

If you woke up this morning ready to fight a spook, specter, or ghost, we need to tell you about the Twinkie. Throw it back to the ’90s in this Egon Spengler costume that looks like it came straight from The Real Ghostbusters.

  • Includes:
    • Jumpsuit
    • Wig
    • Glasses
  • Long Sleeves
  • Zipper Closure
  • Length: About 59” shoulder to hem
  • Material: Cotton, synthetic fibers
  • Care: Spot clean
  • Imported

Opinion: Their have been custom made The Real Ghostbusters costumes before. I think it’s cool that finally Spirit Halloween can do something RGBs related. It makes sense to make “hero” costumes. It makes way more sense for an animated Egon costume to have a wig. It is hard to recreate that hair style. The wig reminds me of some historical wig people “had to wear” centuries ago.

Also, Spirit Halloween, we’re “throwing it back” more to the 1980s.

So, where are the Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore costumes? Perhaps Spirit Halloween is “testing the waters.” If animated Peter and Egon sell well, they’ll make our other animated heroes in 2020.

Who ya gonna call? It’s time for some ghost hunting with this officially licensed Janine costume. Experience the thrill of The Real Ghostbusters this Halloween season. These Ghostbusters are worth calling!

  • Officially licensed
  • Includes:
    • Wig
    • Glasses
    • Necklace
    • Dress
  • Length: About 38” from shoulder to hem
  • Material: Cotton, synthetic fibers
  • Care: Spot clean
  • Imported
  • Note: Shoes sold separately

Opinion: Their have been custom made Janine Melnitz The Real Ghostbusters costumes before. I think it’s cool that finally Spirit Halloween can make an official version of the animated “outfit” Janine wore most.

Fashion wise, women could buy glasses and other accessories to fit their tastes for the character and their own style. The wig could be helpful, women could also color their hair if they chose to.

Zuul/Gatekeeper Costume

spirithallrgbsdanagatekeepercost.png

This Halloween, there is no Dana, only Zuul. Dress as the classic villain from the Ghostbusters this year when you throw on this Dana costume from Ghostbusters. You’ll be on the search for the Keymaster on your way to unleashing your power on New York.

  • Includes:
    • Dress
    • Wig
    • Scarf
  • Long sleeves
  • Pullover style
  • Length: About 44” from shoulder to hem
  • Material: Polyester, spandex, synthetic fibers
  • Care: Spot clean
  • Imported

Opinion: Occasionally I have seen mostly on-line custom Gozer and Gatekeeper costumes. Respect to any woman ghosthead who chose a form of costume they would have to custom make. I do think it’s cool that Spirit Halloween makes an official version of the Gatekeeper outfit.

It doesn’t seem easy to duplicate the right color/shimmer (is that even right) to that dress. Their version reminds me of a Matty Collector Zuul, Gatekeeper Of Gozer figure. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, August 3, 2012)

Since this costume post is longer than I thought it was going to be, their may be a couple more posts for new Spirit Halloween Ghostbusters merchandise.
