Janine Melnitz Uses QuickBooks

anniejaninequickbooks.png

About 2 weeks ago videos and memes of Annie Potts, who plays the iconic role of Janine Melnitz, the Ghostbusters cranky receptionist hit the interwebs. Except for here as I’m retro blogging. That’s a real thing right?

This isn’t reused and some computer generated footage of Ms. Potts as Janine from GHOSTBUSTERS. Or Annie Potts kinda looking like Janine selling us DirecTV in the 2000s. She is better than that, Ghostbusters is above that kind of cheese. So is Intuit.

Intuit is the leading software company behind Turbo Tax, Mint, and QuickBooks. In a series of ads to manage a better, happier business Intuit has partnered with Sony/Columbia to use characters from 2 of their biggest iconic movies from the 1980s. Karate Kid and Ghostbusters. The idea is that characters who run businesses are happier and more productive than they were 36 years ago because they use QuickBooks to manage their respective business.

Spirit Halloween New Ghostbusters Costumes

Last year Spirit Halloween took their Ghostbusters license to the next level with new Ghostbusters costumes, prop replicas, and more. (GBI Blog Post, August 30, 2018)

Those items far as I know are still available to buy along with a storage facility full of new items.

Full disclosure I don’t own any of Spirit Halloween’s Ghostbusters items. As you may know I own a couple of Ghostbusters flight suits, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, March 5, 2014) that don’t fit because I lost weight in the last 2 years.

When I’m able to I’ll put together a new for me Ghostbusters costume. This post is more of an overview and my opinion of what Spirit Halloween is offering this year than a review.

Chronicle Collectibles The Real Ghostbusters Ecto-1

toyarkrchroniclecollectiblesrgbsecto1.jpg

Ghostheads had already known Chronicle Collectibles are making high end (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 29, 2019) The Real Ghostbusters collectibles. During last week’s San Diego Comic ConChronicle Collectibles revealed their upcoming to scale Ecto-1.

toyarkrchroniclecollectiblesrgbsecto1group.jpg

Toys news site, ToyArk took photos as part of their SDCC coverage. Overall this is The Real Ghostbusters series Ecto-1 I remember. As the figures aren’t posable, it stands to reason “the car” won’t have doors that open. Either way this Ecto-1 would be great for display.

Details, pricing, and a release date haven’t been revealed. This post and/or a new one will be updated when more information is available.

Chronicle Collectibles The Real Ghostbusters Figures

chroniclecollectiblesrgbsfigs.jpg

Diamond Select Toys produced a couple of series (Diamond Select Toys Blog Post) featuring The Real Ghostbusters figures. Although posable, they don’t quite capture, (from what I’ve seen of them) “the Kenner feel.” A reason I don’t own any of them.

On a higher end collector market, Chronicle Collectibles is producing all 4 The Real Ghostbusters figures along with Slimer. The bad: They’re more like statues, total cost, near $600 USD*, and Slimer is exclusive to buying the set. “Figures” without Slimer can be bought individually. *Chronicle Collectibles offers monthly payment plans.

Press release after the jump.

Ghostbusters Vinyl Figures Coming From Weta Workshop

I have to be honest, the standard that has been around with Vinyl figures peaked for me sometime ago. To the point I had thought their was really only one way to make them. Then Vinyl Sugar, a Funko brand came along with Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 24, 2015) and I probably said something like this is different.

I couldn’t have imagined in 4 years how much the vinyl figure landscape would change. Enter Weta Workshop. A company who does creative development, publishing, weapons, props, creatures, make-up, miniatures, public art, and merchandise for films” for at least the past 2 decades.

They already have figures from Aliens, Lord Of The Rings, and Men In Black to name a few. Coming in 2020 Weta Workshop is set to bring ghostheads three Ghostbusters figures. After the break, full sized photos!

For Sale: Rich’s Ghostbusters II Proton Pack Replica

richroyprotonpacknfilter

In June 2000 I bought a Proton Pack replica. Styled somewhat after their look from Ghostbusters II. Eighteen years later I wrote The History Of A Rich Proton Pack Replica. (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, February 13, 2018) Today, (bummer) 18 years later my Proton Pack replica is for sale.

If you have the “tools and the talent” this Proton Pack replica could even be better than it originally was in June 2000. Sometime after 2006 it stopped working. I thought it could have been from a fuse. For all I know a wire came loose. In an attempt to prepare the pack for an eventual restoration, as much wiring was removed as possible. “That was really stupid.” – Winston

When this pack replica was originally wired toggle switches (with all batteries in place inside) did the following:

Proton Pack Functions

  1. Pack and wand lights would turn on.
  2. The blue Power Cell would “power” up.
  3. Cyclotron/Synchronous Generator would “cycle.”

Neutrona Wand

  1. Heat Sink didn’t light for “total protonic reversal” conversation.
  2. Emitter would light, (barrel didn’t extend) and would vibrate when “firing.”

More information about price and shipping after the read it more.

Site Update: History Of A Rich Proton Pack Replica

richroyprotonpackfillerlabel2

I’ve been wanting to write about and show off my Proton Pack replica I bought in June 2000 for years. A reason I waited so long is because in 2000 photos were taken of Jersey Ghostbusters stuff from both Polaroids and a disposable camera! At various times throughout the eighteen years I thought among the photos were more detailed shots from when the pack was newly purchased. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t ever the case. I also wanted to take highly detailed photos before fruit robot devices. In that era I did once have a Sony Cyber-shot camera. Eventually it stopped working. I still have disposable cameras that are newer.

As I haven’t bought a digital camera in eighteen years or even replaced a Panasonic camcorder from 1991 I finally decided to use a fruit phone 6 camera to take the kinds of photos like I work for a major publishing company.

Writing about my Proton Pack replica could have been a few paragraphs. Or a short story. To write the masterpiece that is The History Of A Rich Proton Pack I needed 500+ words and two separate pages.

New Ghostbusters Pop Tees

funkogbt2

Funko recently announced wave 2 of their Pop! Tees. Among the likes of some jokerish space civil war t-shirts is the above Ghostbusters Pop! t-shirt. We know Pop! Movies Winston Zeddemore (iRich Blog Post, December 28, 2014) is smaller in scale, that isn’t a reason to exclude him.

You may remember Funko originally released (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 11, 2015) a Ghostbusters Pop! Tee as a SDCC 2015 exclusive. Which was later sold at retailers and on-line.

Each of Funko’s Pop! Tees come with a Pop! Mini Standee collector card. They’ll be available during Summer 2016.

Diamond Select Toys Ghostbusters Glass Tumblers

dstgbsglasses

During February’s New York Toy Fair Diamond Select Toys gave ghostheads their first look (GBI Blog Post, February 16, 2016) at Ghostbusters Glass Tumblers.

Where I wrote: (Am I suppose to quote myself?)

Depending on your age you may remember licensed character glassware. Which may have been part of a food promotion, (for a price) maybe from a gas staton, mail away, or easy as buying in store. Their was a time depending on geographic location their were Ghostbusters character glassware. Same for Ghostbusters II.

DST knows their audience (and if you’ve seen or have their BTTF glasses) and will be coming out with 4 different Ghostbusters glasses. With art that reflects the characters. These glasses also include other iconic characters and themes from Ghostbusters.
