Official International Ghostbusters Club Photos

officialgbsfanclubtoolsofthetrade5

Remember that time over at GBI when they wrote about the official Ghostbusters Fan Club? (GBI Blog Post, June 8, 2014) Five years later they, (well I did) wrote about the official international Ghostbusters fan club again. For a very good reason. It started this summer when the king of the ghostheads, Peter Mosen. (Facebook) had been taking and sharing photos from his career and collecting. One or more of the shared photos came from the original Ghostbusters fan club.

As I have in at least the last 5 years I asked about “club stuff.” That’s also when I heard from Robert Maxwell Barbieri. (Facebook) If you didn’t know, Robert restored the original The Real Ghostbusters pilot. Which Sony Pictures put on ghostbusters.com before also physically adding the restored pilot to the Ghostbusters 35th anniversary 4K/Blu-Ray!

As a ghosthead collector, Robert has items from the original Ghostbusters fan club. I asked for pictures or scans. Could they be shared for ghostheads? Robert agreed and I wasn’t disappointed by what he sent over. Including some extras from his archives.

If you have one or more of the quarterly newsletter “No-Ghosts” or something else from the original fan club, please contact me at: spengs @ ecto-containment . com.

It took around a week once I had the photos. GBI is happy to recreate some semblance from the official international Ghostbusters club. (GBI Page)

Handmade By Robots Ghostbusters Collectibles

Who knew that in 2019 ghostheads would need knitted Ghostbusters vinyl figures. If a robot makes them by hand, pretty much everybody!

At last weeks San Diego Comic Con, Handmade By Robots revealed two upcoming Ghostbusters figures. While they aren’t the Ghostbusters, (I’m trying to picture them) ghostheads can buy a plastic knit like Slimer or Stay-Puft.

Descriptions and additional photos after the break.

Chronicle Collectibles The Real Ghostbusters Ecto-1

toyarkrchroniclecollectiblesrgbsecto1.jpg

Ghostheads had already known Chronicle Collectibles are making high end (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 29, 2019) The Real Ghostbusters collectibles. During last week’s San Diego Comic ConChronicle Collectibles revealed their upcoming to scale Ecto-1.

toyarkrchroniclecollectiblesrgbsecto1group.jpg

Toys news site, ToyArk took photos as part of their SDCC coverage. Overall this is The Real Ghostbusters series Ecto-1 I remember. As the figures aren’t posable, it stands to reason “the car” won’t have doors that open. Either way this Ecto-1 would be great for display.

Details, pricing, and a release date haven’t been revealed. This post and/or a new one will be updated when more information is available.

Chronicle Collectibles The Real Ghostbusters Figures

chroniclecollectiblesrgbsfigs.jpg

Diamond Select Toys produced a couple of series (Diamond Select Toys Blog Post) featuring The Real Ghostbusters figures. Although posable, they don’t quite capture, (from what I’ve seen of them) “the Kenner feel.” A reason I don’t own any of them.

On a higher end collector market, Chronicle Collectibles is producing all 4 The Real Ghostbusters figures along with Slimer. The bad: They’re more like statues, total cost, near $600 USD*, and Slimer is exclusive to buying the set. “Figures” without Slimer can be bought individually. *Chronicle Collectibles offers monthly payment plans.

Press release after the jump.

Ghostbusters Fan Fest Panel: Inside Look At Kenner The Real Ghostbusters Toy Line

gbsfanfestkennergbspanel

Backposting this almost 2 months later for reasons.

On June 8, 2019, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Ghost Corps, and Wizard World celebrated Ghostbusters 35th anniversary with Ghostbusters Fan Fest! (GBI Search Tag)

The “I Ain’t Afraid of No Toys panel” was an in-depth look at Kenner’s The Real Ghostbusters toy lines. With Kenner toy designer, Mark Boudreaux. (Linked in)

A bit unfortunate I wasn’t able to attend Fan Fest and still haven’t made time to watch “I Ain’t Afraid of No Toys panel.” Any ghosthead, Kenner fan, and toy collector, (or anyone really) can thanks to Chad Paulson, webmaster of ghostbusters.net.

After the break, the “I Ain’t Afraid of No Toys” panel video.

Ghostbusters Vinyl Figures Coming From Weta Workshop

I have to be honest, the standard that has been around with Vinyl figures peaked for me sometime ago. To the point I had thought their was really only one way to make them. Then Vinyl Sugar, a Funko brand came along with Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 24, 2015) and I probably said something like this is different.

I couldn’t have imagined in 4 years how much the vinyl figure landscape would change. Enter Weta Workshop. A company who does creative development, publishing, weapons, props, creatures, make-up, miniatures, public art, and merchandise for films” for at least the past 2 decades.

They already have figures from Aliens, Lord Of The Rings, and Men In Black to name a few. Coming in 2020 Weta Workshop is set to bring ghostheads three Ghostbusters figures. After the break, full sized photos!

Rich Review: Ghostbusters Candy Bars From Astor Chocolate

gbs35candy

After eating and writing about new Ghostbusters breakfast cereals, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, July 16, 2019) yesterday it’s time to write and eat about new Ghostbusters candy.

In the past a company or two (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 13, 2015) made Ghostbusters candy, if you lived in the United Kingdom. What about the 327.2 million (as of 2018) US residents? Everyone loves Ghostbusters and candy.

I patiently waited (sure) and during Ghostbusters 35th anniversary Astor Chocolate produced not 1, but 2 Ghostbusters candy bars.

  • Ectoplasmic Residue, Slimer themed.
  • Stay Puft Marshmallow.

I’ve added a new item (link removed as EGBs Ecto-1 has been sold) to the Ecto-Containment Store. Around 2012 I bought an Extreme Ghostbusters Ecto-1 sealed in box, until 2015.
