Personal Update December 2016

57chevybelairbw.jpg

I’ve been meaning to write this post before today. I held off because its difficult and very personal. In other posts where I say its personal, it can be vague. I don’t generally like to publicize my personal life. I’ve whenever I could kept my personal life separate from Ghostbusters. Through the years they’ve sometimes been connected. I feel as a courtesy, for the support you’ve shown the sites over the years, and a need to write I would provide a personal update.

I also reserve the right to remove this post at any time.

Disclaimer: What I’ll write in the next three paragraphs after the read more tag may be emotional.

The Real Ghostbusters Pilot

rgbspilotcap2

Before their could ever be episodes of The Real Ghostbusters something had to be created to show how an animated Ghostbusters series would work. What would the characters look like, what about their personalities? How about the environment around them? What would the equipment look like? What would the ghosts look like?

Prior to September 1986 when an animated spin off was a logical progression (or so it would seem) to the blockbuster Ghostbusters a short pilot was made. This promo, (also later used to advertise The Real Ghostbusters for Saturday mornings) began to give us the universe of The Real Ghostbusters with a short story. All in less then 5 minutes.

As this was before a single episode had been made, their isn’t any dialogue. ‘Ghostbusters’ plays throughout.

Ecto-Containment July Site Update

July Updates

If you’ve stopped by Ecto-Containment in the last week, you probably noticed the black piano theme I’ve been using has been replaced. I’ve been wanting to change the layout again for sometime. I’ve been testing different designs. Depending on when you read this, the design in all likely hood has changed again. For personal, creative, and maybe technologic reasons.

While I’ve been doing that I’ve also been preparing a new content update. I haven’t written a single word of it yet. I have taken, organized, and prepared 23 photos. Which haven’t appeared on Ecto-Containment previously. Anticipation is building! :p

I also have a couple of other timely updates planned. One involves a new Ghostbusters collectible to my collection. The other, a new The Real Ghostbusters review.

From The World Of Ecto-Containment

If you live either in New Jersey or close enough to travel, members of Ghostbusters NJ and myself will be at the Jersey Shore Comic Book Show this Sunday, July 17, 2016. This smaller show runs from 10AM-4 PM. JSCBS is in a regional shore area. One could even visit one of the area boardwalks afterwards. With games, oversized food, and beaches along the Atlantic ocean.

GBNJ will have our mobile HQ (i.e.: 3 tables) with enough equipment, ectoplasm, activities, usually Ghostbusters S.W.A.G to give away, (“the kids love us”) with more to display and share. We also usually have multiple ECTOs right outside.

My Ghostbusters II Memories

erniepetersigdanharoldposing

With the addition of Ghostbusters to Ecto-Containment, really the only piece of the Ghostbusters puzzle (you didn’t tell us their were going to more games) was to write my memories of Ghostbusters II. Which would be different from Ghostbusters. Because of age, The Real Ghostbusters, merchandise, and related experiences around Ghostbusters II premiere.

Origins Of Being A Ghosthead

thegbsecto1pic

When Ecto-Containment was only about The Real Ghostbusters I kept Ghostbusters content to either Ghostbusters International or during the twenty teens iRich, my personal blog/site. That’s where I wrote almost immediately (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, September 1, 2013) about being a ghosthead. A term coined by Norm Gagnon, one of the original fans.

When I expanded Ecto-Containment to be a more general, all purpose Ghostbusters site, a Ghostbusters page was needed. Early in 2016 we return to where it all began.

New Ecto-Containment Layout

rgbcautionbar

A short post (let’s put it this way, not as long as others) to confirm what you’re already seeing. That not even 5 full months later I’ve once again clicked some buttons and changed Ecto-Containment’s design and layout. As you scroll down you’ll see a curved shape. Its suppose to resemble some fancy piano. To me, its more of an upside down P.K.E Meter. 😀

Unlike back in May (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, May 11, 2015) their shouldn’t be any major changes. Except for maybe one, their is an RSS feed icon the template has by default. I don’t have separate RSS software, it doesn’t work for me. If you have an RSS app, it should work. Feel free to comment to confirm.

Otherwise it’ll be somewhat business as unusual as Ecto-Containment moves into October. This would include Ghostbusters news and site content.

Extreme Ghostbusters

gbsgetsextreme

When Extreme Ghostbusters premiered on September 1, 1997 somewhere on my aging 13 inch Sharp TV I was officially an adult. I had graduated high school a little more then a year ago. Those responsible adult things had already been set in motion. I had finally gotten my license, taken a real vacation without my parents, bought a car, was in college, and I had my first not in high school job. Minimum wage, oh yeah!

The cartoons I grew up with, that shaped my ’80s childhood were part of my past. Stored in a clutter of awesome memory files. Even a new Ghostbusters cartoon wasn’t exactly on my radar. I’m fuzzy on the whole how I even found out about it. I do remember a friend of mine and I talking about it.Read More »

Print Isn’t Dead, It Moved From The Basement To Upstairs

rgbmagcovers

About two months ago as I was working on the Ghostbusters NYC website (also known for web site purposes as Ghostbusters Firehouse) I decided to begin moving the once scanned/current PDF files of Ghostbusters/The Real Ghostbusters reading material to Ghostbusters Firehouse for realism and to save space at Ecto-Containment.

Every smaller PDF file wasn’t complete in February. Something I hadn’t realized during most of the uploads. Naturally as is the case when one runs multiple web sites, that project had to be put on hold. I became busier with at least one other Ghostbusters “thing”, the franchise I’m part of, Ghostbusters NJ.

As I looked ahead to getting back to all the Ghostbusters sites I run it was Easter. Within a week I was preparing to go on vacation. I had a great time, thanks for asking. 🙂Read More »

ゴーストバスターズ映画プログラム Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program

Note: Originally written for Ghostbusters Inc. in 2015 as part of an unofficial Japanese Ghostbusters month.

gbsjapaneseprogramcover

Ghostbusters Incorporated’s unofficial Japanese Ghostbusters month continues with a ゴーストバスターズ映画プログラム. Or Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program.

By the way, if you speak and/or read Japanese and know Google Translate got it wrong, its ok to laugh. We’re just trying something here for Ghostbusters and some level of effectiveness.

I don’t personally know about these days, during the ’80s if you saw GHOSTBUSTERS™ or GHOSTBUSTERS II™ in a Japanese movie theater you’d receive a movie program. Which maybe was or wasn’t meant to be collectible.

The glossy pages Ghostbusters program is more like a magazine. With articles for just about every aspect of Ghostbusters. With great photos overall to accompany the information.

Ecto-Containment In The New Year

ectocjan5

If you’ve been visiting Ecto-Containment (then Ectocontainment) since 2011 you’ve seen the growth of the site technological wise and through its up and down periods. Which were also a reflection of what I was personally going through. As 2014 was nearing the end, (prior to the holidays) I was sorta waiting with Ecto-Containment before working on site content as The Real Ghostbusters (and Ghostbusters news) had slowed down from what it was.

For Ecto-Containment the renewal of the domain was coming up in December. I had briefly considered not renewing it so I could eventually merge Ecto-Containment with Ghostbusters Inc. What if I changed my mind, what if I never do that? I would have run the risk of losing the branding for this site.Read More »

Kenner Ghost Nabber Photos

ghostnabberboxsde

In the middle of November 2014 their was a (geographically speaking) a really local comic book show. Its kinda a con, the organizers call it a show. Unbeknownst to me, this same show was held last year in my town at the same place. As the Jersey Shore Comic Book Show was coming up I knew I’d be there with my Ghostbusters franchise and friends from a second New Jersey franchise.

I thought as this con was local, more fun, less kind of pressure then a major con I could mix up the equipment and bring (and wear) some of my Kenner The Real Ghostbusters toys.Read More »
