Some Matty Collector Ghostbusters Sculpting

handsculptmattel gbsdanabarrett

With Mattel Ghostbusters/2016 toys (slowly, depending on location) reaching retailers this month and Diamond Select Toys Ghostbusters Selects also at retailers it gave me an opportunity to finally post something I never got to in January for some reason.

Eleventyplex, a traditional sculpting company once worked with Matty Collector on their Ghostbusters figures. These sculpts included Dana Barrett, Librarian, Taxi Ghost, and Cinema Ghost. The ghost figures were accessories to Matty Collector Ghostbusters figures.

Here are additional photos of their Ghostbusters sculpts. On the side navigation menu you can also view the rest of their portfolio.

1980 Somethings Proton Pack Builds

anomnirepcov

Anovos Productions LLC announced yesterday, although I wrote about it today (GBI Blog Post, April 30, 2016) they’ll be selling a licensed Proton Pack Kit. Proton Pack frame sold separately. Lights and sound kits to eventually come.

Matty Collector also neither offered kits or a complete Proton Pack prop toy. I suppose we were fortunate enough to have a Neutrino Wand.

It had me thinking of early ghostheads who built a Proton Pack as early as 1984. Something I had sorta forgot anyone (outside production on the films) had even attempted until I joined the Ghostbusters on-line community during the early years.

Ghostbusters Returning To Theaters

rgbswatchinggbs

If you’ve wondered sometime since ghostheads have known Ghostbusters (2016) was in production with a July 2016 release date if GHOSTBUSTERS would also return to screens; wonder no more.

Entertainment Weekly (EW) wrote today GHOSTBUSTERS will be returning to theaters (limited engagement) this June.

On June 8, the anniversary of the original 1984 release, Fathom Events (the event company shared by AMC, Regal, and Cinemark Theaters) will re-release the orignal film in more than 750 theaters across the country. (An encore date of June 12 has also been scheduled.)

In addition, BBQ Films will be hosting three nights of immersive screenings of Ghostbusters in a giant warehouse in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (natch) beginning June 8. The event company plans to transform the venue into a Ghostbusters HQ where fans can strap on a proton pack, hang with some ghosts, and of course screen the original film.

Unfortunately for ghostheads outside the United States, this may be only within the US. I don’t know 100% for sure. It can’t hurt to check, especially if your country has one of the named movie theater franchises.

Tickets for both events can be found here: FathomEvents.com and BBQ Films.

Lego Ghostbusters Key Events In Two Minutes

gbsin2mincap

During Ghostbusters 30th anniversary LEGO fan and ghosthead Monsieur Caron (YouTube) made The Ghostbusters Lego Movie. (GBI Blog Post, August 18, 2014) Less than 2 years later Monsieur Caron has created a new Lego Ghostbusters fan film. This time with key events from Ghostbusters!

Monsieur Caron

Enjoy this recreation of the 1984 Ghostbuster movie all made in LEGO stop motion animation by MonsieurCaron. If the crossover between the LEGO bricks and the fan favorite ghost hunting foursome is playable in the LEGO Dimension game, it is only here that you can see the story resumed in only 2 minutes with real LEGO bricks.

You will see the famous Ecto-1 21108 come to life as it leave the Firehouse Headquarters 75827 made by The LEGO Group, but note that every scene in the brickfilm were created by MonsieurCaron using his collection of over 200 000 LEGO bricks and many official sets. It took exactly a month of construction, animation and post-production to make this project come to life. Visit monsieurcaron_brickfilm on Instagram to see all the behind the scene photos.

Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime Now One Better

gbsanctumofslimepromo

Did you once have an Xbox, making happy memories playing Ghostbusters: The Video Game in 2009, followed later on with Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime?

Years later you may have left your aging console to collect dust like you once collected achievements. All because of the newer and current Xbox One. (US) You couldn’t play certain games (go with me here) until Microupdate added “backwards compatibility.”

Honestly I still don’t know if Ghostbusters: The Video Game is compatible. Please leave a comment if you know. Word from the not so mean cyber streets informed ghostheads that Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is compatible from Xbox (One) Live Arcade.

gbsanctumslimedescript

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime retails for $4.99 USD and can be downloaded on Xbox One, Xbox, probably (I don’t know for sure as I don’t have a PS3/4) Playstation Network, and I sorta still guess PC Download. Again, if anyone can confirm please leave a comment.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler Marketing Has Begun

newectocoolercanjuicebox

Exciting news today as ghostheads found out (thanks to GBNJ member Kenneth) not only is Hi-C Ecto-Cooler coming, the marketing campaign has started! Though I suppose before we get into the fun stuff, (my past kid self disapproves) let’s take a brief look at the business side.

Why are we getting Ecto-Cooler in 2016? Charles Torrey, Vice President, Minute Maid/Hi-C Brands, Coca-Cola North America has the answer.

From BusinessWire:

“Hi-C Ecto Cooler fueled a pop culture phenomenon that is well remembered and beloved by fans to this day,” said Charles Torrey, Vice President, Minute Maid/Hi-C Brands, Coca-Cola North America. “Sony Pictures was extremely enthusiastic about bringing it back for this special occasion, and the timing of the upcoming Ghostbusters film made this the exact right time.”

dstgbsglasses

During February’s New York Toy Fair Diamond Select Toys gave ghostheads their first look (GBI Blog Post, February 16, 2016) at Ghostbusters Glass Tumblers.

Where I wrote: (Am I suppose to quote myself?)

Depending on your age you may remember licensed character glassware. Which may have been part of a food promotion, (for a price) maybe from a gas staton, mail away, or easy as buying in store. Their was a time depending on geographic location their were Ghostbusters character glassware. Same for Ghostbusters II.

DST knows their audience (and if you’ve seen or have their BTTF glasses) and will be coming out with 4 different Ghostbusters glasses. With art that reflects the characters. These glasses also include other iconic characters and themes from Ghostbusters.

PPW Toys Mr. Potato Ghostbusters

staypuftpotato

Back at February’s New York Toy Fair Ghostbusters licensee PPW Toys had their upcoming Ghostbusters Mr. Potato Heads and nesting dolls on display. (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) Not that surprising I wasn’t familiar enough with PPW Toys. Checking out their site gave me a better idea of their partnerships and pricing.

Today PPW Toys has given us a better look at their Ghostbusters products. Let’s take a closer look!

Funko Ghostbusters MyMojis

funkocompgbsmymoji

At New York Toy Fair from this past February Funko introduced Ghostbusters MyMojis. (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) That was my introduction to either MyMojis or Funko’s version of it.

What exactly is an MyMoji?

From Funko’s MyMoji page:

MyMojis combine beloved characters with the utility of emojis and the fun of collecting!

Each blind-bag vinyl figure depicts a different emotion through the faces of characters from an assortment of popular titles.

They retail for $3.99, there are 24 blind bags per display, and each figure comes with a code to download a free digital MyMoji for your phone!

Now that we received that knowledge Funko gave us a bigger and complete look at their Ghostbusters MyMojis.

I’m not sure if I really want to collect blind bag emoticon like vinyl figures. I’ll probably give it a try at some point. Surprisingly before this product their weren’t any Ghostbusters emojis. I guess AT&DirecTV didn’t want to make even more money. Because all ghostheads had, still have are a ghost and a “no” symbol.

What do you think of MyMojis? Will you be buying them? Whether its Ghostbusters, TMNT, or another “popular title?”
