Cryptozoic Ghostbusters Mighty Meeples

Where was this stuff in 1987?

In an update from last years New York Toy Fair (GBI Blog Post, February 14, 2016) Cryptozoic Entertainment has produced and is selling (I should check) Ghostbusters Mighty Meeples.

I don’t really know what that means. I’ll let Anthony Karcz from GeekDad tell us about it.

For those of you unfamiliar with meeples, they’re the little wooden humanoid player tokens that first started showing up when European games became popular. Now they’re everywhere and fairly synonymous with gamer culture (see our own Tabletop Game Review Index over to the right). Mighty Meeples are those same little wooden people, but with awesome pop culture characters printed on them. We good? Good.

These detailed stylized pieces have a The Real Ghostbusters feel to them. If Columbia Pictures had (or still could, are you reading Ghost Corps?) made an animated cartoon in this style, I would be more then okay with it.

I don’t really know how you’re suppose to (or do you be creative and use your imagination?) play with Mighty Meeples collectible characters. I do know ECTO-1 is made from tin and has a familiar Kenner style to it. While I understand, it would be cool if the Ghostbusters were a little more to scale with the car. I do like that Mr. Stay-Puft isn’t as small as the guys or Slimer.

Cryptozoic Mighty Meeples Ghostbusters is priced at $15 USD and has a February 8, 2017 release date. It can be pre-ordered from Amazon (US) right now.
