Ghostbusters Legacy: The Making Of Ghostbusters And Ghostbusters II Coming In 2020

gbslegacynotfinalartjpg.jpg

This news isn’t completely out of left field. It makes sense with Ghostbusters 2020 aka code name Rust City on the spectral horizon that Sony and a publisher would put together a new making of Ghostbusters book.

Nothing can replace Making Ghostbusters by Don Shay. It’s decades out of print, a physical copy can be pricey, and fortunately for ghostheads is available digitally…for free. (Spook Central PDF file)

Their isn’t a making of Ghostbusters II book like for Ghostbusters. Outside of out of print magazine articles from the 1980s.

During and after Ghostbusters 30th anniversary Insight Editions published Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 24, 2015) by Daniel Wallace. That coffee table book pretty much covered every aspect of the Ghostbusters franchise. Both with words and visuals. 8)

It may not be out of print, I haven’t checked. I know within the last month I’ve seen multiple copies at Barnes & Noble.

Not everybody can, does, or will own either excellent book. What will Ghostbusters Legacy bring to the Ghostbusters franchise in 2020?

Eaglemoss/Hero Collector press release after the break.

Haynes Insight Ghostbusters Ectomobile Manual

haynesectobook

Earlier this year I wrote that Inside Editions would be publishing (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, April 29, 2017) a Haynes (UK) Ghostbusters workshop manual. Written by Troy Benjamin and Marc Sumerak. Illustrations by Ian Moores.

Related: Ectomobile Workshop Manual To Be Published. (GBI Blog Post)

I was born long after the 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Miller-Meteor was built. I wouldn’t have seen a Haynes (US) manual in stores for any 1950s Cadillacs, let alone an Ectomobile.

Nearly 60 years later, Haynes, Insight Editions, Sony/Ghost Corps, and ghostheads had the foresight to add to the Ghostbusters franchise. Covering multiple Cadillacs along with vehicle equipment. While that could be enough Ghostbusters Ectomobile Owner’s Workshop Manual also delves into Ghostbusters gadgetry.

Tobin’s Spirit Guide From Insight Editions Update

On September 8, 2015 I wrote that Amazon added new information, (which I included and will again) about what Insight Editions Tobin’s Spirit Guide (Ghostbusters Inc. Tobin’s Spirit Guide) will be about.

With November coming to an end and turkeys breathing a sigh of relief Insight Editions and Amazon have gave ghostheads a first look as the Tobin’s Spirit Guide (abridged) cover. Continue reading

Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History Received

I had been keeping this under (shrink) wraps in part until I knew I could talk more about Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History. (Ghostbusters Inc. Blog Post, January 5, 2015)

During the summer I was contacted by PR By The Book, a public relations firm who represents Insight Editions. The discussion via email was about having a review copy and promoting the book. Which I’ve been doing at least since January. Unless I misunderstood I thought an abbreviated copy would be arriving. One day in August I’m heading out and there was a package.

had to leave, I was excited to get back to open the box. Inside was a copy of Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History by Daniel Wallace. I did what most fans would do, look through the entire book. Then I did what most of us feel we wouldn’t need to do, take 40 photos. Continue reading

Tobin’s Spirit Guide (Abridged) To Be Published From Insight Editions

idwissue8tsg

West End Games, Inc. published Tobin’s Spirit Guide (for use with Ghostbusters™ A Frightfully Cheerful Roleplaying Game) during Ghostbusters’ infancy.

During the internet age ghostheads have been making fan made versions which can encompass more then the films and the original RPG books. What can be included is unnaturally personal preference. Like this one (GB Inc. Blog Post, January 26, 2015) from Italian ghosthead Joe Nonostante. His version of Tobin’s clocks in at 496 pages!

With the release of Ghostbusters: The Video Game during Ghostbusters 25th anniversary Prima Games published a thorough game book which contains a Tobin’s Spirit Guide section.

While people with notable connections have tried to get a license to create such an official labor of love, it wasn’t in Spate’s Catalog. Or so it seemed. Continue reading
