Playmobil’s Recreation Of The Real Ghostbusters Opening

playmobilrgbsopeningcap.png

Maybe a coincidence. :p Reckless Abandonment Pictures produced and published their stop motion tribute (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 8, 2019) to The Real Ghostbusters. Ten days later in time for Halloween Playmobil has released their animation version (naturally in the Playmobil style/universe style) of the iconic The Real Ghostbusters opening.

Like with Playmobil’s Ghostbusters animation, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, February 2, 2017) ghostheads wonder if Playmobil and Sony Pictures Animation will ever make a full length Ghostbusters/The Real Ghostbusters animated movie(s).

The Real Ghostbusters Stop Motion Tribute

Kyle Roberts, from Reckless Abandonment Pictures sent over an electronic email to let me know about one of their stop motion videos. It isn’t any stop motion video, it’s a tribute to The Real Ghostbusters intro, “starring” Diamond Select Toys The Real Ghostbusters figures!

Press Release:

It’s that time for all things spooky, and we ain’t afraid of no ghosts! 💚👻💚Oklahoma City animation studio, Reckless Abandonment Pictures, got their start producing fan-made stop motion intro videos; notably X-Men and Ninja Turtles. Since then, DreamWorks, LEGO, Mattel and other major brands started reaching out to them for commercial work. As a labor of love the team is back at it again with a stop motion tribute to the nostalgic 1986 ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ cartoon introduction! With over two months of work and 2,500 individual pictures, Kyle Roberts and crew brought this fan made tribute to life. Artist Nathan Poppe crafted over 30 hand-drawn doodle images to establish a bright and vibrant backdrop to complement Roberts’ use of action figures. The team used a mixture of Ghostbusters toys over the years, from the 1980s nostalgic Kenner figures to the newly released Diamond Select line. They also fabricated their own clay puppet for the walking/dancing ghost! The original RGB theme song was covered by composer Nicholas Poss, vocals by Sean C. Johnson. The whole idea of this labor of love us to feel like all of this is kind of made by kids in their imagination! As kids of the 80s, now with kiddos of our own… it was only fitting that we recorded several of our own kiddos voices shouting “Ghostbusters” in our tribute!
