Ghostbusters: Afterlife Trailer

rcstillew.jpg

On January 16, 2019 Ghostbusters Facebook account posted a teaser trailer for at the time believe or not a new Ghostbusters movie! Then known as Ghostbusters 2020, later Rust City; (during filming, because no one would know it was suppose to be Ghostbusters related!) For no particular reason I never wrote a post about it, thoughts, or feelings about a new Ghostbusters movie written by Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman. And directed by Jason Reitman. Call it partially super procrastination.

Last year and last month I knew ghostheads were days away from Sony putting out a trailer for Ghostbusters 2020. The word around the internet is that it would be titled Afterlife. During the week of December 7, 2019 I was on vacation, no where near my computers.

On December 9, 2019 Sony Pictures Entertainment put the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife on-line. I watched it more than once, (not as many as some of you!) on my fruit phone. I was and am excited. This post isn’t about my reaction.

I’ve been back at Ecto-Containment HQ since Saturday, December 14, 2019. I had to work that day and I’m still catching up with “internet things.” I don’t know if I will write an expected reaction blog. I could see reviewing Ghostbusters: Afterlife after July 10, 2020.

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.

Original Ghostbusters And Ghostbusters II Novelizations To Be Reprinted In 2020

Not to be outdone by Ghostbusters Legacy, (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 11, 2019) another book publisher, Titan Books will be publishing an omnibus Ghostbusters novel.

Before the internet was a kid, movies like Ghostbusters would have a novel attached to it. In the United States, the novelization of Ghostbusters was written by Richard Mueller. Mr. Mueller would also write 23 episodes of The Real Ghostbusters over the course of 7 seasons.

Ghostbusters II also had a novelization when the internet was text based and required a landline. The US version was written by Ed Naha.

Both (or all versions) physical Ghostbusters novelizations are long out of print. Thanks to ghostheads preservation of out of print material, digital copies are available at Spook Central.

What if you want to own a new book smell copy of both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II novelizations together? For the first time (probably) in 35/36 years Titan Books in plenty of time for Rust City has ghostheads covered in black slime, uh ink.

Ghostbusters Legacy: The Making Of Ghostbusters And Ghostbusters II Coming In 2020

gbslegacynotfinalartjpg.jpg

This news isn’t completely out of left field. It makes sense with Ghostbusters 2020 aka code name Rust City on the spectral horizon that Sony and a publisher would put together a new making of Ghostbusters book.

Nothing can replace Making Ghostbusters by Don Shay. It’s decades out of print, a physical copy can be pricey, and fortunately for ghostheads is available digitally…for free. (Spook Central PDF file)

Their isn’t a making of Ghostbusters II book like for Ghostbusters. Outside of out of print magazine articles from the 1980s.

During and after Ghostbusters 30th anniversary Insight Editions published Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, October 24, 2015) by Daniel Wallace. That coffee table book pretty much covered every aspect of the Ghostbusters franchise. Both with words and visuals. 8)

It may not be out of print, I haven’t checked. I know within the last month I’ve seen multiple copies at Barnes & Noble.

Not everybody can, does, or will own either excellent book. What will Ghostbusters Legacy bring to the Ghostbusters franchise in 2020?

Eaglemoss/Hero Collector press release after the break.
